Whale Watching Report

I think summer has found us in the islands today, we started our trip with blue skies and sun without a cloud in the sky. We had amazing views of Mt. Baker today on our trip north toward Point Roberts. We started our time with the J-pod with an incredible breach by Granny J1 (oldest female in J-pod & the southern residence, est. birth 1911). Spieden J8 (est birth 1933) decide she wasn't going to let Granny be the only elder breaching today and to top it off she also demonstrated her ability cartwheel too. Shachi J19 spyhopped over and over again (I lost count a 6) as she kept tabs on her daughter 5 year old Eclipse J41. Eclipse J41 also demonstrated her breaching abilities. We wrapped up our time with J-pod with a great pass by Samish J14 and her family (Riptide, Hy'shqa, Suttles, and newest calf J45). -Naturalist Jami Nagel
