Our day started off with a bald eagle soaring over the marina. As we made our way out of Guemes Channel, we found a California sea lion just swimming in the current. We headed down Rosario Strait and found some harbor porpoise and even a Steller sea lion! We went south and a couple of customers found us a minke whale! We had a great group of customers with amazing eyes for wildlife! We spent quite awhile with our minke. He ws very friendly and surfaced many time before he went on his deep dive. We continued west to Hein Bank in search of any other whales. We didn't find any, had there been any other animals in the area, I am confident that our boatful of customers would've found it! We made our way back to see if we could see our minke one last time. We found a group of dall's porpoise. They weren't really in the playful mood, they were feeding, but we got some good looks as them. At the south end of Lopez Island, we did a slow down and saw another Steller sea lion, a turkey vulture and another bald eagle! As we picked up speed, we actually had to slow right back down again because there was a bait ball that had so many gulls, pelagic cormorants, rhinoceros auklets, harbor porpoise and harbor seals upon harbor seals! On our way back into Guemes Channel, we found possibly the same California sea lion we saw this morning, this time he was hauled out on a channel marker! It was a beautiful day full of sunshine and wildlife!
