Wild Weather Day

We started our day off with two bald eagles, even before we left the dock! We made our way out to the Strait of Juan de Fuca, with just a light drizzle. Everyone was on the look out for any of the four types of whales we have in the area. We found some harbor porpoise, harbor seals and multiple bait balls. Both the clouds and fog parted and we caught glimpses of Victoria and the Olympic Mountain Range. A rainbow even appeared over San Juan Island. We almost made it to Canada before we turned back to search Partrigde Bank. We headed back into the fog; we were so lucky to see Minor Island through the fog. We found a bald eagle and over 50 harbor seals hauled out. We headed back up Rosario Strait in the fog. Captain Carl was trying to outrun the rain that was on our tail. Again, the fog parted just near the Burrows Island Lighthouse. What luck! The fog finally cleared as we made our way north. As we rounded the corner toward the marina, the clouds parted and the sun shone down on us! The sun also created a full rainbow as well! It was beautiful! The search was on today, but we couldn't find a whale in the flat calm water. So our passengers get to come out with us again for free for another gorgeous day on the water! It was just a fluke!
