Orca Whales Near Admiralty Inlet

Captain Carl reports Island Explorer 3 is on-scene with J, K, and some L-Pod Orca Whales. Our guests have also seen Minke Whales and Steller Sea Lions! Stay tuned to the Whale Report for more details on today's tour - next tours will be Saturday 10/24 and Sunday 10/25.

The day started of with just a little bit of a drizzle, but as we left the dock and headed south, the rain let up. As Minor Island came into view, we found dozens of harbor seals hauled out. The seals even demonstrated how ungraceful they are on land, as they squirmed back into the water. The sun found us as we made our way to Partridge Bank, where Captain Carl found a minke whale. We didn't have too much time to spend with that minke, because we had good news to the south and we had to get going. Steller sea lions showed up alongside the boat as well as some breaching salmon. When we past Marrowstone Point, we met up with some orca whales! We spent quality time with Granny, Ruffles, Blackberry, Gaia, Wavewalker, Tika and Shachi. The whales showed us some of their playful behaviors, such as breaching, taillobbing and spyhopping. Our customers today enjoyed a beautiful fall day, complete with sunshine, blue sky, flat water and two different species of whales!
