"Even before leaving the marina our guests were welcomed into the beauty of the fall day by a couple of curious Harbor Seals that were patrolling the local water. It was a beautiful fall day as we departed under a blue sky, gorgeous Mt. Baker loomed off in the distance and the snap in the air reminded all that fall had officially arrived. It was in the Strait of Juan de Fuca that we found members of K pod. We enjoyed the company of Lea (K14), Yoda (K36), little one-year old Kelp (K42), Cappuccino (K21), Raggedy (K40) and Riptide (J30). Little Kelp was having a hay day out there as he breached multiple times and even did a back dive that resulted in him going soaring through the air head over tail! After a great visit with the Orcas we eventually had to start back toward the dock, but before reaching home we stopped off at Swirl Rocks to visit with a mature Bald Eagle, some hauled out Harbor Seals and even a Steller Sea Lion." - Naturalist Kate Janes
